#SHOWBIZ: 'No regrets': Stephen Au and wife Phyllis Man embrace Vancouver life

Vancouver: Hong Kong actor Stephen Au and his wife Phyllis Man have embraced their new life in Canada, four years after moving there, stating they have no regrets about leaving Hong Kong. The couple, married since 1997, discussed their experience on a web show. 63-year-old Au praised Vancouver's slower pace of life, describing their adaptation as "extremely well."

He highlighted the city's pleasant climate and welcoming community, adding that respectful communication is key to avoiding trouble. Au also mentioned feeling less pressured to socialize and having more time to reflect and appreciate everyday life. This change has boosted his creativity, as he has completed five books in the past four years.

Phyllis Man revealed that her husband has finally found time to build model kits he had collected in Hong Kong but left unopened for nearly two decades. Despite enjoying a more relaxed lifestyle, Au has no plans to retire from showbiz. He has shifted focus to theatre and remains active in stage productions, including Frankenstein 1.0, which he is set to star in September.

Au noted that Vancouver productions may take longer to develop than in Hong Kong but appreciates the team's simplicity, passion, and the chance to share Hong Kong culture with overseas audiences.
