Shakira and MrBeast Discuss Building Schools in Colombia After Earthquake Response

Shakira and YouTube star MrBeast, who have over 100 million and 70 million Instagram followers respectively, have discussed the possibility of building schools in Colombia. The two met and talked about educational initiatives in the South American country during the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on July 19. Actor Tom Cruise was also present during the discussion.

MrBeast suggested Barranquilla, Shakira’s hometown, as a potential location for the schools. Shakira previously founded Fundacion Pies Descalzos in 1997, which has built schools and developed educational programs for children in Colombia, particularly in disadvantaged communities. If the collaboration proceeds, the project would build on her existing work in the country.

MrBeast has also previously worked on philanthropic projects in Colombia, such as donating homes to low-income families in 2024 and funding a clean-water project in La Guajira in 2025. However, the proposed Shakira-MrBeast school-building initiative is still at an early stage and has not yet been formally agreed upon.
