Senator Cherargei: Ndindi Nyoro is not a govt project

Senator Samson Cherargei of Kenya's Senate has rejected claims that Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro is a government project. These allegations have been made amid growing political debate surrounding Nyoro's newly formed People's Party and its expanding national influence. Cherargei was responding to criticisms from some members of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) and their supporters, who have accused Nyoro of being a government mole and attempting to divide the Mount Kenya vote in preparation for the 2027 election.

Cherargei dismissed the notion that Nyoro is a politically valuable ally, criticizing his lack of consistency. He pointed to Nyoro's indecisiveness during the Finance Bill vote in 2025, claiming Nyoro avoided taking a clear position. Cherargei also noted that Nyoro avoided political alignment during a period when he was likened to a "Rais wa kibanduliwa," suggesting Nyoro lacked political conviction.

Further, Cherargei noted that Nyoro had previously indicated he would not work with any national leaders, contradicting Nyoro's recent establishment of the People's Party and recruitment efforts across Kenya.

The senator further accused Nyoro of supporting the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, suggesting Nyoro was positioning himself for political gain. Despite these accusations, Cherargei reiterated that he would not associate with Nyoro due to the politician's perceived inconsistency. This debate is part of the larger political contest leading up to the 2027 General Election, with rival factions closely scrutinizing new party formations and their recruitment strategies.
