S. Koreans' level of AI utilization 1.7 times the global average: report

SEOUL, Aug. 27 (Yonhap) -- South Korean adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technology is markedly more advanced than the global average, according to a new report from Google Korea. The company's research, based on a survey by Public First, a London-based consultancy, reveals that 40 percent of South Korean respondents felt AI skills were a primary factor in hiring decisions.

Additionally, 74 percent of Koreans expressed interest in education aimed at enhancing their AI abilities, a sentiment echoed by 85 percent of South Korean parents who prioritize AI learning over other subjects like math and English. The report also delved into the impact of AI education on worker productivity, revealing that advanced AI prompt writing education could cut employee work hours by a third, with an estimated annual productivity gain of 2.3 million won to 4.7 million won per person. The survey polled 1,057 adult South Korean citizens from April 17 to 30.
