Robert Saleh Calls Out NFL Veteran for 'Cheap' Shot on Wan'Dale Robinson

Tennessee Titans coach Robert Saleh expressed his disapproval of a hit inflicted on receiver Wan Dale Robinson by ex-Titans safety Xavier Woods during a joint practice session with the Chicago Bears on Thursday, Aug. 27. The incident occurred when Robinson attempted to make a catch over the middle of the field. Saleh labeled the hit as "cheap" in response to inquiries about it post-practice, according to the Nashville Tennessean.

The incident prompted an immediate reaction from the Titans' players, leading to a shoving match between the two teams on the field. Multiple players had to be separated by staff members. Despite the hit, Robinson managed to get up and walk off the field unaided. However, he was evaluated for a potential concussion and was subsequently not allowed to return to practice.

Saleh confirmed that the team was monitoring Robinson for a concussion. Robinson, who spent his initial four years with the New York Giants before joining the Titans on a four-year, $70 million contract, has been in exceptional form. Over his four seasons with the Giants, he racked up 1,014 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 92 catches.

He is anticipated to serve as a prolific safety valve for the second-year quarterback Cam Ward. If Robinson is sidelined due to his injury, rookies Carnell Tate and veteran Calvin Ridley would likely see a majority of the receiving snaps, with second-year wideouts Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike benefiting from additional playing time.

Robinson has been present in 48 out of the 51 games played over the past three seasons. He missed one game at the conclusion of the 2025 season due to fractured ribs and also sat out the first two games of the 2023 campaign while recuperating from a torn ACL. Robinson made only six appearances as a rookie in 2022 due to a couple of knee injuries, including the aforementioned ACL tear.
