Reuters – China’s Moonshot talking to US cloud giants over Kimi K3

Chinese AI start-up Moonshot is engaging in discussions with major US cloud providers - Microsoft, Amazon and Google - to potentially share revenue generated by their AI model, Kimi K3. According to Reuters, the Chinese company is seeking a 30% share of any revenue derived from Kimi K3 services hosted on Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud.

The negotiations between the three US companies and Moonshot are currently at an early stage, with no certainty of reaching agreements. Issues in the talks include determining the revenue split, data access and auditing token usage. Moonshot has previously signed agreements with smaller cloud platforms, but no details have been provided.

If a deal is struck, it could be the first major revenue-sharing agreement between a Chinese AI provider and a major US cloud company.
