Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs meets Iran Foreign Minister

His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, convened with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, in Tehran on Thursday. The primary focus of their conversation was the recent happenings in the region and the pursuit of reducing tensions to foster a setting conducive to dialogue, which would bolster regional security and stability.

They also delved into ongoing deliberations concerning an interim framework, which encompasses the creation of a provisional joint shipping lane across the Strait of Hormuz and a pact to execute a joint project for clearing the strait of mines.

During the meeting, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed underscored the criticality of respecting the sovereignty of neighboring nations and the freedom of navigation. He emphasized the significance of persisting diplomatic endeavors to de-escalate tensions and settle disagreements through dialogue. In response, the Iranian Foreign Minister conveyed his appreciation to the State of Qatar for its ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and fostering dialogue.
