Pollen Robotics (Hugging Face) Microduck

Pollen Robotics, in collaboration with Hugging Face, has introduced the Microduck, a 25 cm open-source biped robot capable of being trained using reinforcement learning by the user. The robot is ready for immediate use and can perform various actions, such as sitting down, holding a pose, standing back up, and even roller skating when equipped with skates.

The Microduck can also get up from the ground by itself and be ready for the next command. Each Microduck comes in one of four colorways, but the underlying robot and brain remain the same. Users can choose the shell that best suits their needs.

The Microduck is designed to be a plug-and-play robot, requiring only a few additional components upon arrival, including a battery, USB-C cable, and a game controller. The package also includes spare motors, motor cables, batteries, a dual charger, NFC tags, a Hugging Face credit, a screwdriver, and a screw pack. Additional accessories, such as a laser pointer, NFC polaroid, rollers, a ball, and more NFC tags, are also included.

All the robot's moves are available on GitHub, allowing users to read, fork, and retrain the software stack. The entire software stack, including the simulation and the full RL training stack, is permissively licensed and available for modification.

The Microduck is built upon a community-driven approach, with the community residing on Discord. The robot ships in four colorways and is expected to be available before Christmas 2026, with an introductory price that includes taxes and shipping.
