Penn Badgley to Star in ‘Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone’ Prime Video Series

Amazon has commissioned a murder mystery series titled "Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone" starring Penn Badgley. David Hemingson, known for "The Holdovers," will serve as showrunner and executive producer alongside Ben Stevenson, the author of the murder mystery novel the show is based on. Badgley will not only star but also executive produce the series.

The show is described as a dark comedy and will be co-produced by Fifth Season and Made Up Stories. The series logline reveals that the story revolves around Ern Cunningham, an expert mystery writer who reluctantly attends a family reunion to welcome his brother Michael, whom Ern had previously convicted, home from prison. The family reunion is fraught with the revelation that every member of Ern's family has already killed someone, either inadvertently or otherwise.

Hemingson expressed his excitement about partnering with Fifth Season and Made Up Stories to bring Ben Stevenson's "heartfelt and darkly hilarious whodunit" to life, praising Penn Badgley for his suitability to portray Ern Cunningham's intensity, brilliance, and dry sense of humor. Stevenson, in turn, praised Badgley's ability to capture the essence of Ern, crediting the entire team behind Amazon MGM Studios, including Bruna and Steve, for their enthusiasm and passion in bringing the project to fruition.

This role marks a significant shift for Badgley, following his five-season run on "You." He will next appear in "You Deserve Each Other," a film opposite Meghann Fahy. Fifth Season and Made Up Stories have previously collaborated on several successful projects including "The Good Daughter" for Peacock, "Roar" for Apple TV+, "Nine Perfect Strangers" for Hulu, and "Anatomy of a Scandal" for Netflix.
