Pakistan raises complaint with Sky Sports for interview with Imran Khan’s sons: Report

The Pakistan Cricket Board has lodged a formal complaint with British broadcaster Sky Sports following an interview with the sons of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The interview, conducted by former England captain Mike Atherton, aired during the first day's play of the Lord's Test between England and Pakistan, which was the second match in a three-Test series.

Sources Cricinfo and The Guardian reported on the complaint, with the Pakistan Board considering the possibility of the team not taking the field after lunch in protest. Atherton is a co-signatory on two letters drafted by former cricket captains, urging the Pakistani government to improve the treatment of Imran, who has been incarcerated for three years.

Imran, a former Prime Minister of Pakistan from 2018 to 2022, is widely regarded as one of the country's greatest cricketers and a pivotal figure in developing numerous Pakistani cricketers. His sons, Kasim and Sulaiman Khan, expressed worries about their father's health while in prison, fearing for his life. Imran's prison history includes serving multiple sentences for corruption, totaling 10, 14, and 17 years.

As he runs for re-election ahead of the 2024 elections, Imran faces another seven-year sentence in a case related to the timing of his marriage to his current wife following her divorce from him.
