Pakistan, Kuwait Deepen Defence Ties With New Pact

On Thursday, Pakistan and Kuwait inked a pact to bolster their defense cooperation, expanding their existing framework. The 'Protocol Agreement-2026' was inked during a meeting between Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and a high-ranking Kuwaiti delegation led by Defence Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Al-Sabah. The delegation also comprised Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lt Gen Khalid Al-Shriaan.

The sides discussed topics of mutual interest, emphasizing bilateral defense relations, security collaboration, and ways to deepen defense ties. This agreement builds upon the 'Defence Cooperation Agreement-2023'. Under the new pact, Pakistan's Armed Forces will offer assistance to Kuwait's Armed Forces in various fields. These fields include training, capacity building, border management, and other agreed-upon areas of defense collaboration.

The statement highlighted the strong trust, mutual respect, and shared strategic interests that underpin the long-standing defense relationship between the two nations. Additionally, the Pakistan Army reported that the Kuwaiti delegation also met with Field Marshal Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. The meeting concentrated on issues of mutual interest, regional security, and bilateral defense cooperation.
