Osotsi affirms Linda Mwananchi has many options if denied party registration

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has stated that the Linda Mwananchi movement has viable alternative political options if it is denied registration under its desired name prior to the 2027 General Election. During a recent interview, Osotsi affirmed that the group is prepared to pursue its political ambitions regardless of the outcome in its ongoing battle over the registration of the Linda Mwananchi name.

The Vihiga senator made these comments while addressing the dispute over the movement’s political party registration, which has gained attention as the movement seeks to formalize its organization for the upcoming elections.

Osotsi expressed his belief that the government is attempting to hinder the movement, questioning why they would be concerned about Linda Mwananchi if the administration genuinely perceived the group as lacking a serious political plan. He wondered why the authorities are worried about the movement if they claim that the group is "planless, clueless, and doesn't have brains."

However, Osotsi emphasized that Linda Mwananchi would have numerous options should they be unable to secure their preferred registration name. He stated, "I can tell you for sure that the government is out to frustrate us. Kenyans can see for themselves," highlighting the movement's intention to continue its political advancement despite the obstacles.

The registration dispute has become a significant issue as Linda Mwananchi transforms its grassroots mobilization into a formal political entity for the 2027 elections. Reports indicate that the movement's leaders are considering alternative parties while they continue their legal challenge over the name. Osotsi assured that the movement possesses experienced leaders skilled in political parties and coalition building, including former ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, the senator himself, and his experience in forming the NASA coalition. He also mentioned James Orengo as another senior politician with political expertise.

Osotsi indicated that the movement already has a strategy in place regarding potential alternative names under discussion. He expressed confidence in the movement's ability to remain competitive ahead of the 2027 elections, regardless of the name registration challenges.
