Nvidia forecasts 70% sales growth next year, signals AI spending boom has years left to run

Nvidia forecasted a 70% increase in revenue for its next fiscal year, highlighting the ongoing demand for AI computing while acknowledging ongoing shortages of memory components. The chipmaker's shares surged nearly 5% in extended trading following the forecast, which surpassed Wall Street expectations. CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that AI has reached its "inflection point," becoming productive and profitable, with compute driving revenue.

Analysts viewed the forecast as more credible due to the broadening demand beyond hyperscalers and enterprises, with AI labs and "neo-clouds" contributing significantly. Nvidia's Vera Rubin processors and growing sales to AI labs like OpenAI were cited as growth drivers. However, the company warned that memory price hikes and component costs would continue to impact margins, with a projected bottom in the fourth quarter of 2023 at 71% to 72%.

Analysts had expected a 74.77% margin for the third quarter. Nvidia also announced expanded partnerships with Amazon Web Services, deploying additional Nvidia GPUs across the cloud giant's global infrastructure. Despite these positive outlooks, Nvidia did not disclose China data center revenue, with its China business remaining uncertain.
