NMoQ, ExxonMobil festival to focus on ‘STEAM’ learning

The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) has introduced a three-month exhibition titled "The ExxonMobil STEAM Festival," in partnership with ExxonMobil Qatar. This exhibition, running from August 27 to November 28 in the NMoQ's Temporary Exhibitions Gallery 2, aims to promote science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) learning through Qatar's heritage.

The festival offers hands-on experimentation, interactive workshops, and science-based activities, designed to connect modern inquiry with the nation's culture, environment, and history. ExxonMobil Qatar and Qatar Museums have been collaborating since 2012 to provide meaningful opportunities for learning and community engagement.

The festival will feature workshops and activities for both school groups and families, with a focus on the "Mangrove Lab" initiative, highlighting the country's mangroves and their preservation. Other key highlights include the DADU Light Atelier for young children, the ExxonMobil Research Qatar x DADU - Mangroves Lab, and the NMoQ Roots of Routes zone, where visitors can create traditional tools like the kamal and dhow boats.

NMoQ director Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Hamad al-Thani emphasized the importance of STEAM learning in preserving Qatar's natural heritage and maritime history, while ExxonMobil Qatar's vice-president and manager, Rashid al-Hajri, highlighted the significance of education and community development.
