New LEGO Skylines game is turning city building into a brick-filled playground with no limits

Dubai: City builders, prepare to unleash your creativity on a LEGO scale. Paradox Interactive, Iceflake Studios, and the LEGO Group have unveiled LEGO Skylines, a city building game that brings the Cities: Skylines formula to life using LEGO bricks and minifigures. The game debuted at Gamescom 2026's Opening Night Live on August 25th.

Build and break the rules LEGO Skylines offers an authentic city building experience where players start with a single plot and gradually expand their metropolis through decisions on roads, zoning, and supply chains. Unlike traditional city builders, LEGO Skylines embraces absurdity and encourages unconventional designs. Players can place a bakery on every corner, each producing donuts using wheat grown elsewhere in their city.

The game boasts an "absurdly large" variety of buildings, decorations, and features for players to experiment with. LEGO Group's involvement adds depth to the experience, with Fredrik Löving, SVP and Global Head of Games at the LEGO Group, emphasizing the game's ambition to be among the best in the genre. Paradox describes LEGO Skylines as a builder that can be picked up for a few minutes and suddenly become an all-consuming activity.

Iceflake Studios, the same team behind Cities: Skylines II, is developing LEGO Skylines, aiming to address performance issues seen in the previous title. The game will launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, marking a full release rather than a spinoff. A release date has not been announced yet, but the game is available for players to wishlist.
