New flood warnings issued in Nepal as death toll rises to 392

A deadly flood has struck Nepal and Tibet, claiming at least 392 lives and leaving nearly 1,500 people missing, including 35 Australians. The situation is worsening, with authorities warning of the potential for new floods as a barrier lake in the region may burst within days. At least 466 people have been rescued so far, with most taken to the Tribhuvan Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu, which has become overwhelmed with the influx of survivors and victims' families.

Nepalese officials are urging rescue workers and locals to avoid the riverbanks due to the risk of the lake breaching. Chinese and Nepalese authorities have issued similar warnings, as the lake is expected to overflow and flood the area once more, exacerbated by the forecasted rainfall. Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority is urging the public to remain vigilant and stay away from the affected areas until further notice.
