Nepali Society UAE expresses sorrow over loss of life caused by devastating flood

The Nepali Society in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expressed deep sorrow following the devastating floods that have claimed numerous lives in Nepal's Himalayan border regions and Tibet. Over 160 people have been reported dead, with more than 1,000 others still missing after a massive wall of mud and rock swept through towns and valleys in a torrential flood. As of Thursday morning, the death toll had risen to 162.

Jeevan Pengeni, the general secretary of the Nepali Society UAE, conveyed their heartfelt condolences to all those who lost their lives and extended their deepest sympathies to the bereaved families. They urgently requested effective measures for the search and rescue of missing citizens, medical care for the injured, and support for affected families. Pengeni also called for increased unity, support, and humanitarian cooperation among Nepalis living both in Nepal and the UAE during this difficult time.

The Nepali Society UAE reaffirmed its commitment to standing by all affected Nepali brothers and sisters in their time of grief. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE also expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families and victims, as well as to the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal and its people. They wished for a swift recovery for all the injured and reaffirmed their solidarity with Nepal in the wake of the tragedy.
