Nepal floods: Tok Mat says Malaysian embassy in Kathmandu searching for 55 missing citizens

Fifty-five Malaysian citizens remain unaccounted for after devastating floods struck Nepal, according to Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan. The figure has yet to be confirmed by Nepalese authorities, but is being verified by the Malaysian Embassy in Kathmandu through travel agencies. The search and rescue efforts are being hampered by damaged routes and disrupted roads, making it difficult for the Malaysian embassy to connect with the missing individuals.

The embassy is working to locate the missing Malaysians, despite receiving no response from them thus far. Additional personnel from Dhaka, Bangladesh, have been sent to assist the embassy with monitoring the situation, managing the well-being of the Malaysians, and coordinating with Nepalese security authorities. The Malaysian government has not yet decided on deploying rescue teams or other forms of assistance, as the final decision rests with the National Security Council.

Mohamad expressed his condolences to the families of the missing Malaysians, hoping for their safe return.
