Neglecting Farmers, Oustees— Govt's Axe May Fall On Collectors In MP; IAS Transfers Ahead

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: The government of Madhya Pradesh may soon remove officials who have been neglecting the needs of farmers and displaced individuals. Officials are being prepared for another round of transfers based on their performance. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Chief Secretary Ashok Barnwal have discussed the issue of transfers, with the final decision to be made after further talks between the two.

Yadav recently held a meeting in Khajurabo to address the rehabilitation of displaced people affected by the Ken-Betwa and Runjh-Majhgawan projects. However, he reported that some irregularities occurred in Panna during the rehabilitation process. The government has already posted a new collector in Chhatarpur but may transfer the current Panna collector, Usha Parmar.

Additionally, Narmadapuram collector Somesh Mishra and Harda collector Siddharth Jain may also face transfers due to their inability to manage the farmers' agitation effectively. Some changes in the postings of certain officers in a few districts might also occur. The Women and Child Development Minister, Nirmala Bhuria, has complained about the Secretary GV Rashmi and Director Nidhi Nivedita, mentioning their dispute with departmental employees.

The government may shift these officials for their poor relations with staff. The burden of Principal Secretary Sukh Veer Singh, who oversees the PWD and public health and medical education departments, may be reduced by offloading one of the departments. Similarly, Principal Secretary Manish Singh, who handles the energy and technical education departments, could be relieved from the technical education department.

E Ramesh Kumar, who manages the revenue, OBC welfare, and Narmada Valley Development departments, might have his department count reduced. Following Barnwal's appointment as Chief Secretary, the government has issued two transfer lists, and now, a third is in preparation.
