National Day in Putrajaya: 80,000 visitors, nearly 4,000 police, plenty of road closures but 103 shuttle buses to get you there

On August 27, the 69th National Day celebration at Dataran Putrajaya is set to draw an estimated 80,000 visitors. To ensure a secure and well-organized event, 3,811 Royal Malaysia Police officers and personnel are on standby, with 2,357 already deployed for static security and traffic control. These officers are drawn from various contingents, including the Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Putrajaya district, and reinforced support from Bukit Aman.

The Malaysian Armed Forces, Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defence Force, People’s Volunteer Corps, and Putrajaya Corporation also play crucial roles in the event's success. The police chief, ACP Aidi Sham Mohamed, revealed that the celebration will unfold in two phases, starting with the closure of specific roads from August 27 at 6 am to noon.

The second phase will involve closures of major access routes to the Core Island Putrajaya area, beginning from August 30 at 5 am and lasting until 6 pm. Traffic management will be handled in stages to minimize disruptions, with main routes and bridges such as Seri Wawasan, Seri Saujana, Seri Gemilang, Putra, and Seri Ehsan Bridges, as well as Lebuh Bestari, Lebuh Setia, Lebuh Saujana, Lebuh Gemilang, Lebuh Wawasan, Lebuh Sentosa, Jalan Tun Hussein, Persiaran Barat, and Persiaran Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, being closed during the second phase.

To facilitate easy access, 103 free shuttle buses will be provided by Putrajaya Corporation, operating between Putrajaya Sentral and the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) and directly to Dataran Putra. Visitors are advised to plan their journeys, arrive early, and utilize public transportation to avoid congestion.

Additionally, the airspace in Putrajaya has been declared a drone-free zone, with a strict prohibition on operating drones without proper authorization, and visitors are reminded to refrain from bringing sharp or dangerous items to maintain a safe, smooth, and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone.
