National Cathedral is a wonderful idea but was badly implemented – Mahama Ayariga

Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga has expressed his thoughts on the proposed National Cathedral for Ghana's Christian community. In his appearance before Parliament's Appointments Committee on Thursday, August 27, Ayariga acknowledged that the concept of having a national place of worship for Christians was a "wonderful" idea. However, he firmly believed that the execution of the project was "badly implemented."

The Bawku Central MP emphasized that Ghana is a deeply religious nation, despite being constitutionally recognized as a secular state. Ayariga maintained that there was no inherent flaw in the idea of constructing a national cathedral for Christians. Nevertheless, he raised concerns regarding the location chosen for the project, stating that if he were to assume the role of Minister, he would consult with the Christian community's leadership to ascertain their stance on the matter.

Ayariga assured the Committee that, should the project receive his approval, he would work closely with the President to mobilize funds for its construction, provided the community still desired its completion.
