Nashik: Corporators Angry Over Kumbh Authority Commissioner’s Absence, Several Walk Out

Nashik: A meeting aimed at coordinating the Simhastha Kumbh Mela Authority, Nashik Municipal Corporation administration, and elected representatives turned contentious due to the Kumbh Mela Authority Commissioner Shekhar Singh's absence. Several councillors were angered by his late arrival, leading some to leave the meeting. The assembly was organized to address various aspects of Kumbh Mela preparations, such as infrastructure, traffic management, devotee facilities, sanitation, parking, and inter-agency coordination.

When the meeting started, Singh was not present, causing frustration among the corporators who questioned the significance of the event if their representative was not present. Later, Singh, along with the Municipal Commissioner and Mayor, joined the discussion, but by then, several councillors had already exited. BJP corporator Sudhakar Badgujar brought up the commissioner's absence and criticized the meeting's conduct.

Singh defended the meeting, stating that the Municipal Corporation had called it and that Kumbh Authority officials had been present since 5 pm. Badgujar remained unconvinced, expressing his discontent towards the elected representatives for attending while the necessary officials were absent. This incident has sparked discussions about coordination between the Nashik Municipal Corporation and the Simhastha Kumbh Mela Authority as preparations for the large religious event intensify.

The meeting's discord highlights the importance of effective communication and collaboration between the administration and elected representatives during the critical phase of Kumbh Mela preparations.
