N. Korea slams U.S. arms sale to S. Korea as proof of 'persistent' hostility

North Korea harshly criticized the United States on Thursday for a proposed arms sale to South Korea and a plan to fund studies on human rights abuses in the North, viewing these moves as further signs of hostility toward Pyongyang. A spokesperson from North Korea's foreign ministry released the harsh words, citing a recent U.S. State Department announcement approving the sale of AIM-9X air-to-air missiles and related equipment to South Korea.

South Korean officials had requested the acquisition of 103 AIM-9X Sidewinder Block II tactical missiles, 10 guidance units, and other defensive weaponry. Additionally, the U.S. department announced a $2.96 million funding opportunity to document human rights violations in North Korea and counter the country's propaganda efforts.

According to the spokesperson, these actions demonstrate the United States' persistent and escalating efforts to threaten the security of North Korea and destabilize its society.
