Mumbai Weather Update: Light Rain, Gusty Winds Expected Today; No IMD Alert

Mumbai experienced overcast skies and gusty winds on Thursday as monsoon activity persisted in the city and its surrounding areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted light rainfall throughout the day, but no rain alert has been issued for the city beyond the week. Generally cloudy conditions were expected, with periodic light to moderate rain episodes.

According to the IMD, Mumbai and its suburbs would remain generally cloudy, with light showers anticipated in certain locations. Though widespread heavy rainfall is not expected, some areas may experience moderate to heavy spells accompanied by gusty winds, with wind speeds around 40-50 kmph and gusts potentially reaching 50-60 kmph during intense rain periods.

The maximum temperature was forecast to be around 32°C, while the minimum temperature recorded in the early morning of Thursday was 28°C. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) had been experiencing consistent monsoon activity since the start of August, with multiple episodes of moderate to heavy rainfall reported over the past week.

Despite the ongoing monsoon, Mumbai's air quality remained good, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 23 on Thursday morning. An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered good, indicating minimal health risk. While no rain alert is currently in effect, light showers and cloudy conditions are expected rather than widespread heavy rainfall over the next few days.

However, commuters should exercise caution during periods of stronger winds and isolated heavy showers.
