More than goals: What Mourinho wants from Real Madrid's Mbappe
Real Madrid's star player Kylian Mbappe is already leading La Liga in goals, with the 2026/27 season barely underway. The French forward's impressive form continued with a hat-trick against Real Sociedad, securing a second league win this season. Mbappe, who won the league's top scorer trophy twice in his first two seasons at Real Madrid, is expected to continue his prolific scoring.
However, manager Jose Mourinho emphasized that goals are not the only measure of Mbappe's value. "I prefer 40 (goals) with titles than 60 without titles," Mourinho stated, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and responsibility. The coach also highlighted Mbappe's work-rate and technical skills, praising his ability to contribute beyond just scoring goals.
With Mbappe's excellent start to his Real Madrid career, and his recent performances with France in the World Cup, Mourinho believes there is potential for the team to achieve greater success in the future.
