In 2026, trade disputes are being waged with the help of artificial intelligence. A newly created music video featuring bears, beavers, and bagpipes has gone viral, reflecting the escalating tensions between Canada and the United States. This AI-created anthem, titled "Canadian Resistance Army - Trade War," showcases a furry uprising against US tariffs.

Animated porcupines pop tires, grizzlies scrutinize trucks, and farmers flood roads with maple syrup in a tongue-in-cheek display of Canadian defiance. The video's synthetic voice laments the imposed tariffs before announcing the chorus: "Beavers and moose won't take it anymore." The YouTube video has garnered over 76,000 views and 5,000 likes, while its social media reach extends to more than 1.3 million views on X and 1.6 million views on Facebook.

The White House has also joined the meme game, sharing a post with a bald eagle pinning down a Canada goose, which drew 7.1 million views. This AI-generated video is a product of Kling AI for video generation, ElevenLabs for voice, Suno for music, and InVideo for editing. Matt Navarra, a social media consultant, attributes its success to AI's ability to transform political moments into shareable cultural content quickly.

Navarra believes humor provides an accessible entry point into politics, allowing people to grasp the sentiment and share it rapidly. Felix Simon, a research fellow at the Reuters Institute, notes that humor and national stereotypes effectively communicate complex issues and reframe conflicts in a more digestible manner. AI has already been employed in political contexts, such as an AI-generated image of tents spelling "All Eyes on Rafah" in support of Palestinians and an AI video depicting Gaza as a luxury resort during the Trump administration.
