Mir Raza Ali murder case: Judicial commission issues notices to parties for Friday

The judicial commission tasked with examining the murder of Mir Raza Ali issued formal notices to various parties on Friday, according to the commission's spokesperson. Raza Ali, a 25-year-old businessman from Karachi, was discovered deceased with a gunshot wound in Gulistan-i-Jauhar last month, a day after he went missing. Despite the family's objections, the provincial government decided to establish the commission on Sunday.

The commission's head, Justice Omar Sial, notified the parties for Friday, with the notices issued to the victim's family, the Sindh government's focal point, and the family's lawyer, Advocate Jibran Nasir. Ali had been reported missing from his residence in PECHS, Block-2, on July 28, and his body, bearing gunshot injuries, was found in a wooded area near the University of Karachi the following day.

Ferozabad police initiated a case on the family's complaint under sections 365, 302, and 201 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The Sindh government proposed forming the commission to assess whether the investigation was unbiased and law-abiding, but the family contested the decision in the Sindh High Court, requesting a separate investigation team instead.

The family claimed the commission would investigate allegations of kidnapping, torture, and murder, whereas authorities accused them of attempting to conceal the truth.
