Miles Sanders NFL future uncertain after troubling Pennsylvania highway incident

Running back Miles Sanders, a free agent who previously played for the Carolina Panthers, now faces a driving under the influence (DUI) charge and careless driving charge from a June 8 arrest in Churchill Borough, a Pittsburgh suburb. This matter is currently private and has not reached the preliminary hearing stage, according to Sanders' attorney, Phil DiLucente. Charges against Sanders were filed on August 20, with his preliminary hearing initially set for September 23 but later rescheduled to October 28.

Sanders, 29, previously signed a one-year, $1.3 million contract with the Dallas Cowboys last offseason. However, he only managed 147 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown in four appearances before being placed on season-ending injured reserve due to knee and ankle injuries in October. The seven-year veteran had previously amassed a career-high 1,347 yards from scrimmage and 11 touchdowns in 2022, earning a Pro Bowl selection with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Sanders, who was drafted second-round by the Eagles in 2019, had a standout high school career at Woodland Hills High School in Churchill Borough and played college football at Penn State before joining the Eagles. The Eagles reached the Super Bowl LVII during his final season with the team, but they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. Sanders was a standout player at Woodland Hills High School and Penn State before entering the NFL.
