Marine police officer shot while colleague unloads firearm in Lahad Datu

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 — A Marine Police Force officer was injured while on duty at the Marine Guard Post in Lahad Datu, Sabah, on August 26th. The Lance Corporal was shot and suffered injuries to his left hand's middle finger and abdomen, reported Harian Metro. Lahad Datu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Dzulbaharin Ismail stated that the incident came to police attention on the same day.

According to Dzulbaharin, the injured officer received initial treatment at Lahad Datu Hospital before being transferred to Tawau Hospital for additional care. His condition was reported as stable and he continues to be under treatment and observation at the hospital. The case is being investigated under Section 37 of the Arms Act 1960, which pertains to the offense of discharging a firearm and causing injury to another person.
