Lindsay Clancy trial reporter faces death threats

The Lindsay Clancy trial has taken an unexpected twist after journalist Brittany Romano faced intense online backlash over a brief moment in the courtroom where she appeared to smile and wink at a camera. Romano, who grew up with Clancy, has subsequently claimed she is receiving death threats and abusive messages due to the controversy.

This incident occurred during the trial held at Plymouth Superior Court in Massachusetts, which involves the accused murder of Clancy's three children in January 2023. While Romano has defended her reaction, defending it as her way of coping with anxiety, she has also explained her personal connection to Clancy, stating they grew up in the same Connecticut area.

Vanity Fair, the magazine that was considering publishing an essay by Romano on her experience covering the trial due to her personal relationship with the defendant, has now withdrawn the planned piece, informing the court that Romano is no longer credentialed by the publication.
