Kwara: Rescued Woro abductees reunite with families

More than 160 individuals freed from a kidnapping incident in Woro Community, located within Kaiama Local Government Area in Kwara State, have reconnected with their loved ones, according to a report by DAILY POST. The spokesman for the local government council chairman, M.D. Baniya, announced this development on Thursday evening.

The rescued victims were transported back to their ancestral communities in Kaiama from Ilorin, the state capital, where they had been receiving medical care since their liberation on August 4, 2026. Upon their return, the freed Woro abductees embarked on a dignified and ceremonial journey home, led by the executive chairman of Kaiama Local Government, Hon.

Abubakar Abdullahi Danladi. The procession included two prominent emirs of Kaiama: His Royal Highness, Alh. Omar Shehu Muazu, Bagidi Kiyaru IV and Emir of Kaiama, and Ahmed Ibn Mohammad, Kiwazi of Wojibe. The entourage journeyed from Ilorin to Kaiama, ensuring the victims, many still weak but full of hope, arrived with honor and respect.

As the delegation entered Kaiama, the atmosphere was filled with emotions, with families expressing joy, gratitude, and relief. The local government chairman, Abubakar Abdullahi Danladi, expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Engr.

Yakubu Danladi-Salihu for their swift action and unwavering support. Danladi also acknowledged the prayers, guidance, and moral support of the Emir of Kaiama, Alh. Omar Shehu Muazu, and the members of the Kaiama Emirate Council during the challenging period.
