Kong Haralds helsetilstand er svært alvorlig

Kong Harald's health condition is reported to be in a very serious state. The Norwegian government released a statement confirming that "the king's health is very serious." Shortly after the update, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit arrived at Rikshospitalet, where the king is receiving medical treatment. Both Prince Haakon and Princess Mette-Marit were dressed in black as they entered the hospital, visibly shaken by the news. Minister of State Jonas Gahr Støre expressed deep concern over the news about the king's condition. Støre also mentioned that he is confident in the king's recovery and that he will receive top-notch care at Rikshospitalet. However, he had to leave for a scheduled trip to Germany the same day.

At Slottsplassen, people laid flowers and lit candles on Thursday morning. Many passersby were visibly affected by the news and acknowledged the gravity of the situation. They are in a state of uncertainty as the illness has developed at a worrying rate, with no guarantee of the king's survival. They emphasize that a family is gathering in a very serious situation, and everyone who is at the hospital is thinking about them.

Kong Harald has been admitted to the hospital for over a week now. According to Professor Bjørn Tore Gjertsen, who spoke to VG, the medical team is preparing for the worst given the information they have received and the pace at which things are unfolding. Professor Sigbjørn Berentsen, a hematologist and former chairman, also commented on the severity of the situation.

He explained that an infection caused by bacteria in the blood is often a fatal disease without treatment, but even with treatment, there are risks involved.

Magnus Rasmussen, a professor of infectious medicine at Lund University, pointed out that having bacteria in the blood indicates a severe infection. In general, it is considered very serious when a person of the king's age develops such an infection.
