Juruteknik didakwa buat hantaran jelik di TikTok

Mohamad Norfirdaus Abdul Rahman, a 29-year-old electrician, appeared in the Sepang Sessions Court, facing charges of creating and sending abusive videos through his TikTok account in January. The accused was accused of sending communications with the intention to harm others on TikTok via the nowad.acc4 account on January 12. The content was later viewed at the Menara 1 office of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in Cyberjaya on January 23 at 1:30 pm.

The charge was brought under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998, and could lead to a fine of up to RM500,000 or two years in prison or both, and a subsequent fine of RM5,000 for each day's violation after the first. The prosecutor, Mohamad Azmir Mohd Razali, sought a RM10,000 surety with a co-surety. The defense lawyer, Azi Azlin Zulkifli, requested a lower RM3,000 surety due to her son's low income as an electrician and the financial burden of supporting his aging parents in their fifties.

Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman approved a RM6,000 surety with a co-surety and set the next hearing for October 7. Mohamad Norfirdaus paid the RM6,000 surety.
