The governor of Saga Prefecture had a meeting with the president of JR Kyushu regarding the maintenance of the Shinkansen. In the meeting, the governor expressed his opinion that a simultaneous equation had been established for the maintenance of the Shinkansen. The governor of Saga Prefecture, Yasushi Mizoguchi, met with the president of JR Kyushu, Kunimune Okuyama, at the prefectural government office on the 28th. The two discussed the introduction of the Shinkansen to the prefecture. In the meeting, Governor Mizoguchi explained that the extension of the Shinkansen from Fukuoka to Saga, and the construction of a new railway line from Saga to Nagasaki, would make a simultaneous equation for the improvement of transportation in the prefecture. Governor Mizoguchi said, 'The equation has been established. It is necessary to solve this equation.' He also said that he would like to have a frank discussion with the government about the financial burden. President Okuyama said that he would like to consider the possibility of introducing the Shinkansen while taking into account the financial situation of JR Kyushu. The governor and the president agreed to hold a meeting with the governors of Fukuoka and Nagasaki prefectures to discuss the introduction of the Shinkansen. They plan to hold the meeting before the end of the year. asahi.com
