I was suspended for defending NPP constitution, not opposing Akufo-Addo – Sammy Crabbe

Sammy Crabbe, the National Chairman aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has attributed the party's loss in the 2024 general elections to a "serious systemic failure" rather than the actions of a few individuals. In an interview on Citi FM, Mr. Crabbe highlighted several areas within the party's structures that he believes require reform.

Mr. Crabbe pointed to candidate and executive selection as critical areas needing attention, questioning whether competence should take precedence over personal connections or financial strength. He also criticized the party's funding model, arguing that resources were often provided irregularly instead of through a sustainable system. According to him, the problems were not solely due to the lack of funding, but also the frequency and timing of such resources.

Furthermore, Mr. Crabbe criticized the inadequate preparation of polling agents, insisting that training should begin well before elections. He emphasized that simply waiting a few weeks before starting training would not yield effective results.

Crabbe's decision to contest the national chairmanship is rooted in his desire to pursue institutional reform. He believes that the NPP's structures would only function effectively if they were consistently funded, properly managed, and strengthened.
