I sat on all the IKEA x Xbox furniture — it’s the ultimate stealth gaming upgrade

Ikea and Xbox have collaborated on a 9-piece furniture collection called YXSTABY, unveiled at Gamescom. This collection offers a fresh take on gaming furniture, focusing on muted tones, light wood finishes and simplicity. The collection is designed to help transform living spaces into gaming setups by providing both stealth storage and clever upgrades.

The star of the collection is the thumbstick stool, priced at $50. It was created using the original 3D design files for the Xbox controller's analog stick, ensuring the seating curve and proportions are just right. What makes this stool unique is its ability to move, as the base tilts in all directions, mimicking the movement of a real thumbstick. The textured grip around the edge helps prevent users from falling off, while they are locked into the on-screen action.

Other notable pieces include the lounge chair ($120) and the d-pad cushion ($18). The lounge chair features a cantilevered bouncy frame that flexes with you, allowing for comfortable gaming sessions while still being able to lean forward during high-stakes multiplayer matches. A hidden storage pocket underneath the seat can store controllers, and the removable, machine-washable fabric cover adds to its functionality.

The d-pad cushion is molded directly after the faceted Xbox directional buttons, making it an ideal companion piece for the lounge chair. It rests on your lap and provides an ergonomic elbow stand for playing on a controller. The collection also includes a rolling TV stand ($150) with casters, a sleek wooden toolbox ($35) that stores controllers and cables and doubles as a laptop stand, and a stainless steel D-pad platter ($18) designed to fit the sunken cross shape of the directional buttons.

The collection also has a coffee table organizer ($18) on wheels, adding to its stealth storage options.
