Heavy thunderstorms expected this evening

Following Thursday's oppressive daytime humidity and heat, temperatures ranging from 25° to 30°, the evening will bring rain and thunderstorms to the southern parts of the Netherlands, which will then move northwards, according to the KNMI weather service. The weather service warns that during the showers, wind gusts of up to 60 km/h could occur, and "there is a chance of hail up to 2 cm, and heavy rain may fall in a short time."

Although no official warnings have been issued yet, KNMI has announced a thunderstorm notification app to inform people about local storms occurring within 15 minutes of their location. This app is currently in a beta test phase until August 31st and can be downloaded for free, with users invited to provide feedback.
