HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Expands Peru Training

On August 27, Hyundai Heavy Industries (HD Hyundai Heavy Industries) and Peru's Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance shipbuilding industry talent and technical capabilities. The ceremony, attended by Choi Heon, vice president of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, Juan Manuel Cosme Shybot Moore, the Peruvian minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, and Choi Jong-wook, the Korean ambassador to Peru, reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation.

The agreement's primary focus is to create a practical training system aligned with industry demands. Both sides plan to jointly develop training curricula for shipbuilding-related occupations, aiming to improve workers' job competencies and produce personnel ready for immediate deployment at industrial sites. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries will determine the technology transfer scope and provide support in stages, initially concentrating on training technical personnel in key occupations such as welding, fitting, and quality control.

Additionally, they intend to expand support to cultivate specialized personnel in shipbuilding equipment and related industries, ultimately aiming to boost Peru's shipbuilding sector competitiveness. The move is also related to ongoing warship and submarine construction projects in Peru. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries is already executing local shipbuilding projects while simultaneously pursuing workforce training programs based on the Korea International Cooperation Agency's Inclusive Business Solution program, ensuring business stability.

Vice President Choi Heon highlighted, "We will continue to pursue various projects so that we can contribute to expanding industrial cooperation between the two countries."
