Grok Bot for Linux: Unofficial port of the official app (open source)

An unofficial port of the Grok Bot desktop app for Linux has been created. Cursor only offers the Grok Bot for macOS and Windows, so this repository fills the gap by bringing the app to Linux. It is not affiliated with xAI or Cursor, and the app is not officially supported on Linux. The source code is open source and licensed under MIT.

The app runs natively on Linux, just like on macOS and Windows, with the same features including bots, the shared computer, and sign-in with a Cursor account. It is not based on Wine, but uses a full Electron build. The target version is Grok Bot 0.29.0 on Electron 42.1.0 (x86_64).

The package can be installed as a tarball from the dist/ directory. Once installed, sign in with the same Cursor/SuperGrok account used on the Mac app. Your bots live on the cloud computer; this build is simply the remote control.

To install on Fedora or Arch, you'll need to install GTK3, NSS, ALSA, and Mesa. On these systems, if Chromium's sandbox cannot handle setuid, the /usr/bin/grok-bot wrapper will add the --no-sandbox flag. Additional Electron flags are stored in ~/.config/grok-bot/electron-flags.conf, one per line.

An extra Electron flag, --ozone-platform=x11, can be added to the ~/.config/grok-bot/electron-flags.conf file to address NVIDIA black window issues. The in-app updater will not install a Linux build, as it talks to the Windows/macOS feeds and uses different versioning.

When Cursor releases a new version of Grok Bot, this repository won't include the official installer, app.asar, or built binaries. Instead, these files are generated on your machine. All the scripts and Linux-native sources are included in the repository, which is licensed under MIT. Grok Bot is owned by xAI/Cursor, while Electron is maintained by the Electron project, as outlined in the NOTICE.md file.
