Google fuels Korea's AI surge with expanded training

A recent report by Google Korea revealed that the country's adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) is more advanced than the global average. The report, titled "Driving Growth and Innovation in Korea with AI," indicates that AI skills are becoming increasingly significant in the hiring process and workplace productivity. On average, Korean companies utilize AI at a level 1.7 times more sophisticated than the global average, according to the study.

Forty percent of workers surveyed in Korea identified AI skills as a critical factor in job hiring, while 35 percent deemed proficiency in AI-powered tools as the most essential skill for employees. Adaptability and a willingness to learn new technologies followed closely behind at 21 percent, while communication and interpersonal skills were valued by 12 percent of those surveyed.

The report also highlighted the tangible benefits of AI training. Workers who underwent AI training and transitioned from basic to more advanced prompting techniques reported saving three times more work time compared to those who relied solely on basic prompting. Moreover, AI training was linked to annual productivity gains ranging from 2.3 million won to nearly 3 million won per worker.
