Golf Channel cancels season of Big Break x Good Good amid controversy

Golf Channel has decided to cancel the remaining season of its reality show Big Break x Good Good, following a series of controversies surrounding the golf brand Good Good Golf. The decision comes after the channel's lead sponsor, Golf Galaxy, pulled its support due to a controversial ad featuring a male golfer forcefully pushing a woman and demanding she stop touching his golf club. This led to Dick's Sporting Goods, the parent company of Golf Galaxy, removing all Good Good merchandise from its stores.

Good Good Golf had initially postponed the start of the show, citing a desire to remove a sponsor from the series. However, the Golf Channel has now announced that it will not complete the season as originally planned. The planned prize for the winner of the show, an exemption into the PGA Tour's Good Good Championship, will now be nullified.

The controversies surrounding Good Good Golf began when the company's co-founders, notably Garrett Clark, faced criticism for a brief and tone-deaf apology video following the release of the offensive ad. Callaway, another partner of Good Good Golf, also severed its ties with the brand and pledged $1 million to support organizations working to prevent violence against women. The company's CEO apologized, acknowledging that the marketing team had greenlit the controversial commercial in question.
