Ga Mantse boosts Sacred Crown Awards, names Princess Duncan as CEO to drive global push

Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has bolstered the reach of the Sacred Crown Awards by appointing Princess Francisca Duncan as Chief Executive Officer. This strategic move aims to establish permanent structures to safeguard the awards' integrity, credibility, and long-term viability, while securing international recognition and partnerships.

The prestigious awards, launched recently under the guidance of the Ga Mantse's Office, the Ga Mantse Foundation, and the COA Group of Companies, were established to celebrate and preserve Ghana's African heritage, spirituality, and traditional wellness systems.

The Ga Mantse revealed that the awards emerged from a significant gap in Ghana's existing awards landscape. While many award schemes exist globally, few focus on African heritage, history, and identity. Moreover, sacred Ga traditions are often misunderstood; drumming and noise-making are sometimes perceived as fetish practices. As spiritualists, Ga people are aware of the importance of their work in maintaining safety and peace in the capital city.

The Sacred Crown Awards will address this misunderstanding by honoring those who have maintained African systems alive.

The awards are built on three main pillars: African Identity and Heritage, African Spirituality, and Wellness and Well-being. Its core mandate includes recognizing individuals and institutions that promote and protect African identity, strengthen communities, improve well-being, and re-establish social values within African systems.

The awards adhere to four core values: efficacy, efficiency, excellence, and legacy. Notably, the Ga Mantse emphasized that the awards will yield substantial national benefits beyond recognition. Firstly, they will boost cultural tourism, positioning Ghana as a custodian of authentic African spirituality and heritage. Secondly, they will strengthen the creative and cultural economy by valuing indigenous knowledge, rituals, chieftaincy, and traditional medicine.

Lastly, the awards will project Ghanaian identity to the world, calling for global recognition of Ghana's rich culture and tradition.
