Fubara hails Tinubu for strengthening Nigeria’s security institutions

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara commended President Bola Tinubu for fortifying Nigeria's security apparatus, particularly the Nigerian Air Force. At the runway commissioning ceremony at the Nigerian Air Force Base in Port Harcourt, Fubara described the project as a 'statement of intent', symbolizing the Rivers State Government's unwavering support for the Armed Forces.

Fubara highlighted that security is the bedrock for all other facets of development, emphasizing the close link between the state's security and the nation's overall prosperity. He underscored that the NAF, an institution whose personnel continue to risk their lives in defense of the nation, remains one of the pillars sustaining Nigeria's unity.

The governor acknowledged Tinubu's leadership in strengthening the security framework, stressing that national security is fundamental to economic progress. Given that Rivers State is the epicenter of Nigeria's oil and gas industry, the governor underscored how the security of the state is intrinsically tied to the nation's security, calling for continued collaboration between the federal and sub-national governments.

The governor also revealed that the runway rehabilitation carries immediate practical benefits, improving the Nigerian Air Force Base's efficiency, safety, and rapid-response capabilities. He noted that the facility will bolster Nigeria's anti-economic sabotage campaign in the Niger Delta, including the fight against oil theft, illegal refining, and pipeline vandalism.

The successful commissioning of the runway was attributed to the excellent partnership between the state and the Air Force, extending beyond infrastructure to personnel welfare. The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, commended the Rivers State Government for the successful completion of the project, emphasizing the robust collaboration between the two entities in the security sector.
