Five arrested after 20-year-old dies in Bauchi youth clash

In Bauchi State, a clash between youths from Buskuwa and Mabani villages left one person dead and six others injured. The incident occurred on Monday, August 25, 2026, after a group of youths from Mabani allegedly attacked three residents of Mabani village as they were on their way to Buskuwa. The attackers, believed to be from Buskuwa, beat the three victims with sticks.

Two hours later, one individual named Jumba Adamu allegedly called on Mabani youths to retaliate and stormed Buskuwa. Residents were assaulted with sticks during this attack.

One of the injured victims, Muhammadu Dare, died at the scene, while the others sustained various degrees of injuries. The Gamawa Divisional Police Headquarters was notified of the incident on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, by a 55-year-old resident of Buskuwa. Police officers, along with hunters and vigilante groups, were promptly deployed to the area.

Three of the injured victims are receiving treatment, while the remaining three have been discharged from General Hospital Gamawa. One suspect has been arrested, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining perpetrators involved in the clash. Preliminary investigations have begun, and the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further action.
