Fibercop e Università di Napoli Federico II insieme per l’innovazione nelle reti

Fibercop, a wholesale-focused network company, is partnering with the University of Naples Federico II to advance innovation in telecommunications infrastructure. This collaboration, spearheaded by Fibercop and the university's CeSMA (Center for Advanced Metrological and Technological Services), aims to push the boundaries of technological transformation in the field.

At the core of their joint efforts is the concept of Digital Twin - a virtual and dynamic replica of the real network that can simulate behaviors, interventions, and evolutions. This model will integrate cloud and edge cloud infrastructures, 5G mobile networks, and in the future, 6G systems, quantum communication systems, and cybersecurity tools. Essentially, it will serve as a digital testing ground where changes can be observed without directly altering the physical infrastructure.

Fibercop's CEO, Massimo Sarmi, emphasizes the significance of this collaboration, stating that software and automation are progressively becoming the nervous system of the network. He believes that AI, Digital Twin, edge cloud, and quantum technologies will be crucial in creating more efficient and secure infrastructures.

The partnership also includes training activities, involving professors, researchers, and telecommunications, AI, distributed systems, electromagnetism, and quantum technologies specialists. Domenico Accardo, Director of CeSMA, highlights the potential of this research in developing innovative connectivity solutions and new wholesale services that can expand the applications and security levels of fiber-based communications.
