FG inaugurates inter-ministerial panel to rank MDAs’ websites

The Federal Government has established an inter-ministerial task team to oversee the ranking of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) websites for the year 2026. The Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Dasuki Arabi, revealed this during a recent event in Abuja. Arabi emphasized that the exercise is part of ongoing public service reforms aimed at enhancing accountability and improving service delivery for Nigerians.

He noted that government websites are now the primary point of contact between citizens and public institutions, where individuals seek information, access services, and engage with the government. The 2026 ranking will build upon previous editions, incorporating measures to enhance the credibility, relevance, and effectiveness of the assessment process.

The assessment will be carried out using a digital platform developed by GovTech Africa for public sector transformation, ensuring that technology plays a vital role in measuring performance and driving institutional improvement. The inter-ministerial task team comprises institutions with mandates spanning public service reforms, digital transformation, digital government, digital infrastructure, data protection, communications, identity management, business environment, internet governance, and open government.

The team's primary responsibility is to ensure the consistent application of the approved methodology, proper consideration of evidence, objective professional judgment, and the protection of the process's integrity. The Director of GovTech Africa, Fortune Toma, highlighted that the partnership with the Bureau of Public Service Reforms aims to improve the consistency, efficiency, and evidence-based nature of the 2026 federal government scorecard.

He emphasized that government websites serve as critical interfaces between citizens and the state, and their performance significantly impacts citizen satisfaction and trust in public institutions.
