FAAN disowns ongoing recruitment, warns public against scammers

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has rejected claims of ongoing recruitment and cautioned the public against falling prey to scammers spreading false job offers. FAAN announced this in a statement on Thursday via its official X social media platform. The agency revealed that fraudulent job offers were being spread under its name, including a document dated August 18, 2026, with a logo similar to its own.

FAAN explicitly stated that these letters and associated job opportunities were from unlicensed individuals pretending to act on FAAN's behalf. The Authority emphasized that it is not currently undertaking any recruitment process and dissociated itself from the letters and related job offers. FAAN urged citizens not to remit funds to the purveyors of the bogus job offers and to refrain from disclosing personal information or interacting with the parties behind these fraudulent schemes.

FAAN urged the public to confirm recruitment-related data through its official channels before proceeding with any action. Fraudulent recruitment pitches targeting job seekers have been a persistent form of deceit in Nigeria, with scammers often masquerading as government bodies to extort money or personal details from unsuspecting applicants.

The ongoing FAAN warnings follow a recent advisory from the Federal Civil Service Commission to Nigerians about the circulation of counterfeit recruitment messages and links on social media, WhatsApp groups, and unofficial websites. The commission insisted that genuine federal civil service recruitment never involves private agents, middlemen, or individuals claiming to wield influence over the selection or appointment process.

Earlier this year, Nairametrics reported that the National Pension Commission (PenCom) had also cautioned about a recruitment scam where perpetrators requested personal data from job seekers.
