FAAN denies fix on controversial N30,000 Lagos airport taxi rate

Following strong criticism over artificially inflated airport taxi fares, Nigeria's Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has lifted its ban on e-hailing services such as Bolt. This reversal came after heightened backlash over the introduction of the Airport Car Hire Rank Management System, ACHRAM, which FAAN claimed was pegging the cost of a typical car hire service at an exorbitant N30,000, while the actual fare for the same service would typically be around N8,000.

However, FAAN clarified that ACHRAM is not an e-hailing platform, such as Bolt or Uber, and does not intend to monopolize car-hiring services at Nigerian airports. In a statement, FAAN's Director of Public Affairs, Henry Agbebire, confirmed that after some constructive engagements, FAAN and Bolt have reached a mutually agreeable operational framework, and Bolt is now authorized to commence its services at FAAN-managed airports.
