Evacuation continues in Chernihiv region, nearly 180 people, including 61 children, moved out of danger zones - Interior Minister

The evacuation process in Chernihiv region has been ongoing for nearly two months, as nearly 180 individuals, comprising 61 children, have been relocated from 19 settlements under constant bombardment, according to Interior Minister Ihor Vyhivsky. The minister spoke about the situation on his Telegram channel after conducting a working trip to the region.

Vyhivsky highlighted that over 7,500 shelling incidents have occurred in Chernihiv region since the beginning of the year, predominantly targeting civilian structures, with the occupiers intensifying their use of BandeROL munitions in recent months.

During an operational meeting with the regional military administration head Viacheslav Chaus, Vyhivsky discussed the primary concern being the safety of residents. He emphasized that the evacuation teams are actively informing inhabitants and stand prepared to aid at any given moment. The minister called on residents of Chernihiv region to view the enemy's threats seriously, given the persistent danger and cunning employed by the occupiers.

Vyhivsky also communicated with servicemen serving in the region, including border guards, National Guard members, and commanders of Armed Forces units, acknowledging the challenges faced by the border and expressing readiness to respond appropriately. He further discussed plans to reinforce Interior Ministry units and enhance coordination among Ukraine’s security and defense forces to address these challenges effectively.
