Equinor Board Member to Step Down in September

Equinor ASA announced that Finn Bjørn Ruyter, a board member, will step down on September 1. This departure is relatively quick, occurring only three months after he was re-elected as a shareholder representative by the company's corporate assembly in June. Ruyter, who has been scheduled to serve until the next ordinary board election in June 2027, plans to focus on his responsibilities as CEO of Norwegian utility Hafslund and other board positions.

Currently, he chairs Equinor's Board Safety, Security, Sustainability and Ethics Committee, which adds significance to his exit. Ruyter took over as CEO of Hafslund in 2012 and has held senior roles in the company and the energy sector at Elkem and Norsk Hydro. The board change follows several leadership transitions at Equinor this year, including the appointment of Jarle Roth as chairman in July, replacing Jon Erik Reinhardsen, with Anne Drinkwater maintaining her role as deputy chair.

While this news does not indicate any change in Equinor's operating or capital strategy, it does leave the company with another board vacancy following its recent annual governance reshuffle.
